I started taking pictures more seriously in 2001 when I got my first SLR camera. I got some decent shots but primarily by accident as I had no idea what I was doing. I was lucky enough to have a profession that allowed me to travel all over the country, so had a lot of chances to be inspired by different things. When I retired in 2007 and settled in Pawtucket, RI, I joined the Photographic Society of RI and really started learning about what it means to be a photographer, about really “seeing” the world around you. I have come a long ways from when I first started, but I still have a long way to go in improving my photography. I love nearly all forms of photography, but my favorites are nature, including floral, wildlife and birds, travel, landscapes, abstracts and street photography. I try to find beauty where most people don’t see the beauty and try to bring it to their attention. I truly believe that life is a gift and you must make the most of every moment of it.
